Compassionate, affirming support to heal your relationship with food, body, and self

Eating disorder therapy in Fort Collins can be hard to find—especially care that truly feels inclusive, affirming, and trauma-informed. At Affirm Counseling, Stephanie Pixler, Bobbi Sprague, Katie Wilson, and LB Olson offer eating disorder therapy for teens and adults in Fort Collins and online across Colorado. They’ll cater their approach to you, helping you reconnect with your body, explore identity, and reclaim your relationship with food on your own terms.

Curious about Culinary Art Therapy (CAT)?
If you’ve read Steph Pixler’s writing on the transformative power of food and therapy, she now offers in-person and online Culinary Art Therapy services at Affirm Counseling in Fort Collins.
Experience CAT for yourself—through individual sessions, group workshops, or integrative recovery programs.

Eating Disorder Therapy

Eating disorders rarely exist in isolation. They are often shaped by culture, trauma, identity, and survival strategies. Our approach is rooted in Health at Every Size® (HAES), body liberation, and social justice values, creating a welcoming, judgment-free space for clients of all sizes, identities, and backgrounds. We work with those experiencing restriction, bingeing, overexercise, chronic food guilt, and other challenges in their relationship with food and body.

Our work may draw from:

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) to support parts of you that carry fear, shame, or control
  • Narrative therapy to challenge and rewrite harmful body and food beliefs
  • Expressive and creative tools, such as art or culinary-based practices, to reconnect with food through ritual and creativity
  • Person-centered, trauma-informed care that respects your pace, needs, and autonomy

Explore Intuitive Eating

This work is not about fixing you. It is about healing from the systems and experiences that led you to believe you were broken. We offer eating disorder therapy in Fort Collins and online throughout Colorado, grounded in trust, respect, and collaboration.

Who This Is For

We specialize in working with :

  • Teens and adults experiencing disordered eating or diagnosed eating disorders

  • Clients in larger bodies seeking weight-neutral, stigma-free support

  • LGBTQIA+ individuals looking for inclusive, identity-affirming care

  • People navigating trauma, chronic illness, or major life transitions alongside recovery

Many people seeking eating disorder therapy also need support with trauma, identity, or chronic illness. Whether you are new to therapy or returning with deeper questions, our therapists meet you with curiosity, care, and nonjudgment.

Why Inclusive ED Care Matters

Our therapists bring both clinical expertise and, for many, lived experience to their work. We understand the harm caused by fatphobia, ableism, and shame-based care models, and are committed to offering something different. You deserve support that honors your whole story, not just your symptoms.

You deserve support that sees your full story—not just your symptoms.

What to Expect in Eating Disorder Therapy

Your work with your therapist begins with a collaborative intake, with you and your therapist exploring your goals, your story, and what recovery means to you, not what anyone else says it should be.

Therapy may include:

  • Relational, affirming talk therapy
  • Somatic and expressive arts practices
  • Parts work through Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Food/body-focused exploration or creative work, always with consent

There’s no one right way to recover—and you don’t have to do it alone.
