KAP Overview
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a holistic, science-based approach that may provide meaningful relief and open new pathways for healing. Here are a few key things to know:
- Antidepressant effects may be felt within 1–2 hours
- Benefits can last up to two weeks
- Treatment is delivered through sublingual lozenges prescribed via our partners at Journey Clinical
- May be supportive for those experiencing depression, anxiety, or PTSD
- Can offer relief from emotional pain that hasn’t responded to traditional therapy
- Provides an opportunity to explore healing in a safe, supported setting
What to Expect
Beginning KAP is a step-by-step process designed to help you feel comfortable and supported.
Step 1: Initial Consultation
You’ll meet with a Journey Clinical clinician via Zoom to review your medical history, explore treatment options, and determine eligibility for KAP. Once approved, they’ll create a personalized treatment plan and mail your ketamine lozenges to your home.
Step 2: Preparation Session
Before your first dosing session, you’ll meet with your therapist to discuss the process, set intentions, and ensure you feel ready.
Step 3: KAP Dosing Session
During a 1–2 hour session, you’ll take your ketamine lozenge in a calm setting either in our offices or via telehealth. Your therapist will be present throughout to offer support and guidance as you explore new insights.
Step 4: Integration Session
After your dosing session, you’ll meet with your therapist for integration therapy. These sessions help you process what arose and apply the insights to your daily life.
